American rapper Nicki Minaj has sparked online speculation about a possible White House role after a senior Trump administration official jokingly suggested she could become the next press secretary.

The buzz began on October 25, 2026, when White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video featuring Minaj during a conversation aboard Air Force One.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!”

However, the post did not announce a formal appointment.

How the Rumour Started

In the video, Cheung asks Minaj about President Donald Trump’s economic record, leadership and work ethic. Minaj responds by praising Trump’s business experience and approach to international affairs. She argues that his background makes him capable of managing the country’s economy.

The exchange quickly attracted attention online, particularly among Minaj’s devoted fanbase, known as the Barbz. The official White House account added an eyes emoji to the conversation, further fuelling speculation. Meanwhile, Minaj reposted the video with an American flag and a smiling, sweating emoji.

Why Nicki Minaj Is in Trump’s Orbit

Minaj has become an increasingly visible supporter of Trump, publicly praising his leadership and appearing alongside him at official events.

Her latest appearance came as Trump travelled to Michigan for a political rally ahead of the November midterm elections.

The rapper’s growing involvement in political events has attracted attention beyond the music industry. However, her support for the president does not automatically translate into an official government position.

Has Nicki Minaj Been Appointed?

Despite the viral discussion, there is no confirmed announcement naming Minaj as White House press secretary. Cheung’s wording presented the suggestion playfully rather than as a formal appointment. Minaj’s response also did not confirm that she had accepted the role.

The speculation followed the departure of Katie Zacharia, who reportedly held the position for only five days. The vacancy created an opening for jokes and online suggestions about possible replacements. For now, the White House has not confirmed Minaj as Zacharia’s successor.

A Viral Moment, Not a Confirmed Job

The episode highlights how celebrity culture and political communication increasingly overlap on social media. Minaj’s supporters may enjoy imagining her behind the White House briefing podium.

However, the available evidence points to a playful exchange rather than a confirmed appointment. Until the administration makes an official announcement, the suggestion remains speculation—not a new chapter in Minaj’s music career.
