CCTV footage captures two vehicles veering into a roadside trading area in Murang’a Town.
Two vehicles veered into a roadside trading area along the Sabasaba-Kimuti-ini stretch, catching traders and a boda boda rider off guard.
A Murang’a road crash captured on CCTV shows two vehicles veering off the road and hitting roadside traders. A boda boda rider was also among those caught up in the incident.
The crash occurred along the busy Sabasaba-Kimuti-ini stretch in central Murang’a Town, where traders work close to traffic. Those caught in the vehicles’ path included a shoe shiner and a roadside vendor.
The footage shows both vehicles suddenly leaving the road and entering the trading area. Traders and other pedestrians nearby found themselves in the path of the oncoming vehicles.
The incident highlights the risks facing people who work beside busy roads, alongside pedestrians moving through trading centres.
Murang’a road crash follows other county accidents
Other crashes across Murang’a County this year have also raised road safety concerns. In March, two young brothers died when their motorcycle collided head-on with a sand truck in Kihuro village, Gaturi.
The truck was travelling from Kimathi towards Mathioya when the collision occurred along a narrow village road. Meanwhile, a separate crash near Mukangu involved a vehicle carrying local students, prompting concerns about learner transport safety.
Murang’a County Water Executive Committee Member Paul Macharia also survived an accident near Maragua. His vehicle lost control and struck a roadside tree.
Macharia suffered a broken leg, while a passenger travelling with him died at the scene. These incidents have drawn attention to safety along roads serving trading centres and residential areas.
