Police Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang has denied murdering clinical psychologist Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso. Sang appeared before Milimani High Court Judge Alexander Muteti on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. He pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

The prosecution alleges that Sang and others killed Dr Mutiso on the morning of July 29, 2026, along Mawensi Road in the Upper Hill area of Nairobi.

Ballistic Evidence Links Police Pistol to Crime Scene

Investigators reportedly linked a mini Jericho pistol issued to Sang to cartridge cases and bullet heads recovered from the crime scene.

According to the investigation, the ballistic analysis forms part of the evidence connecting the inspector to the alleged murder.

Prosecutors also allege that Sang played a key role in coordinating the people who financed the planned killing and those who carried it out. However, the allegations remain subject to the court process.

Sang’s Case to Be Consolidated With Seven Others

Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Victor Owiti informed the court that prosecutors intend to consolidate Sang’s case with those of seven other accused individuals.

The suspects reportedly include politician Rose Mbithe Mulwa, her children Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa, both advocates, and Police Constable Elijah Kibelion Kimoi.

Investigators accuse Kimoi of being the person who shot Dr Mutiso. The court proceedings will determine how the prosecution presents its case against the accused individuals.

DCI Links Inspector to Lawyer’s Murder

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has also linked Sang to the murder of prominent city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu.

Mbobu was killed in an ambush along Magadi Road in Karen on September 9, 2025. Investigators allege that Sang helped plan that killing. He is expected to face separate charges over Mbobu’s death before the Kibera High Court.

The alleged connection places Sang at the centre of two separate murder investigations, although the cases remain distinct.

Police Arrested Sang After Manhunt

Detectives arrested Sang on October 24, 2026, along Uganda Road in Eldoret after a manhunt. Investigators allege that he was attempting to sell a silver Toyota Fielder to raise money while on the run.

Following his arraignment, the court ordered that Sang remain at Industrial Area Remand Prison. A probation officer has been given 21 days to prepare a report to assist the court in considering bail.

The court scheduled the case for mention on November 30, 2026. As the proceedings continue, Sang remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
