Samsung smart TVs offer tools to download and organise apps.
Use your Samsung smart TV’s search and apps menus to download services, pin favourites and change their order on the home screen.
Samsung TV apps give viewers access to streaming services and personal media libraries without an extra streaming device. Users can download additional apps through the television’s search feature, then arrange their favourites on the home screen.
Samsung smart TVs usually include Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV. However, the pre-installed selection varies depending on which services operate in your region. For other options, the built-in apps menu lets you browse available services by category.
How to install Samsung TV apps
Start by opening the TV’s home screen with your remote. Next, select the search bar at the top and enter the name of the app you want. Select its icon to install it.
If an app does not appear in the results, regional availability may explain its absence. Alternatively, Samsung smart TVs may not support it. You can also browse the apps menu if you want to explore services rather than search for a particular name.
Once installation finishes, a button should appear offering to add the app to your home screen. Select that option to pin it there. However, leaving the installation screen does not prevent you from adding the shortcut later.
Pin, move or remove apps
To pin an app later, open the apps menu from the home screen. Find the app, then press and hold it using the remote’s select button. Choose the option to add it to the home screen.
You can also change the order of apps already on the home screen. Highlight the app you want to move, then press and hold the select button to open its menu. On older models, you may need another command, such as pressing the down key.
Next, choose the move setting and slide the app left or right into your preferred position. The same menu also offers options to remove an app from the home screen or delete it entirely.
