Salah Returns to Liverpool Squad After Talks With Arne Slot

Mohamed Salah has rejoined Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League showdown against Brighton following fresh talks with head coach Arne Slot on Friday.

Saturday’s match will be Salah’s final chance to feature for the Reds this year before he departs for the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.

The forward has not started Liverpool’s last four games. Tensions rose last weekend when he remained an unused substitute against Leeds and later claimed the club had “thrown him under the bus,” saying his relationship with Slot had broken down.

Liverpool then omitted him from the travelling team that beat Inter Milan 1-0 on Tuesday—hours after Salah posted a photo of himself training alone at the club gym.

Slot, speaking to the media on Friday, said the Brighton decision came after discussions with the player.

“I spoke with Mo this morning. That conversation determined how things look tomorrow,” Slot said. “The next time I speak about him should be with him, not here.”

Slot added that both sides have held several discussions throughout the week involving the player, his representatives, and club officials.

Addressing the Milan omission, Slot clarified that it was a joint decision.

“As a club, we agreed not to take Mo to Inter Milan,” he said. “I always decide the squad and the line-up, but I discuss many things with Richard Hughes.”

Asked whether he wants Salah to stay, Slot was clear: “I have no reason not to want him to stay. This club has won many games with him.”
