Kevin Aruasa has secured backing from a section of UDA delegates for his 2027 parliamentary bid.
A section of party delegates backs the businessman as he prepares to challenge incumbent MP Anthony Kibagendi.
A section of UDA delegates in Kitutu Chache South has endorsed businessman Kevin Aruasa for the 2027 parliamentary election. They backed his bid during a delegates’ meeting in the constituency.
Supporters cited his grassroots support and ability to run a strong campaign. Aruasa recently left the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
He is now preparing to challenge incumbent MP Anthony Kibagendi, who is expected to seek re-election. Meanwhile, Aruasa’s supporters want to establish him as UDA’s preferred candidate ahead of party nominations and the general election.
The delegates also pledged to mobilise backing for the businessman across the constituency’s wards.
UDA delegates set out development priorities
At the meeting, delegates highlighted youth unemployment, infrastructure challenges and stalled development projects as issues they want addressed. Their support came alongside calls for action on these local concerns.
After receiving their endorsement, Aruasa thanked the delegates for their confidence in him. He pledged to prioritise development, youth empowerment, education and economic opportunities if voters elect him.
He also framed his bid around better leadership and development for residents, rather than personal ambition.
The endorsement comes ahead of President William Ruto’s planned development tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties next week. The visit is expected to give the ruling party an opportunity to strengthen its support in the Gusii region.
