Apple is preparing for a major MacBook Pro announcement as it moves closer to introducing its first touchscreen Mac laptop. The technology giant has confirmed an event dubbed “Pro and Tell” in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

According to Bloomberg and other technology publications, Apple is expected to showcase redesigned MacBook Pro models featuring touchscreen OLED displays. The announcement could mark a significant change in the company’s long-standing approach to laptop design.

Touchscreen MacBook Pro Expected

Apple is widely expected to introduce touchscreen versions of its high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Reports indicate that the laptops will feature OLED displays, replacing the mini-LED technology used in current high-end models. OLED screens can deliver deeper blacks, strong contrast and improved picture quality.

The redesigned laptops are also expected to feature a Dynamic Island interface inspired by the iPhone. This would replace the familiar display notch with a pill-shaped cutout that could accommodate notifications and other interface elements.

However, Apple has not officially confirmed the specifications. The details remain based on industry reporting ahead of the announcement.

M5 Pro and M5 Max Chips Expected

Despite the anticipated redesign, the touchscreen models are reportedly expected to retain Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max processors.

The company is also expected to introduce updated entry-level MacBook Pro models featuring its M6 chip. A refreshed iMac and an upgraded iPad mini are also among the products expected to feature in the launch.

The touchscreen models are reportedly being designed to remain traditional laptops. They are expected to retain physical keyboards and trackpads rather than becoming tablet-laptop hybrids. Apple is also said to be adapting macOS to support touch input while maintaining its familiar desktop experience.

Prices Could Rise

The anticipated OLED upgrade and touchscreen technology could push prices higher than those of existing MacBook Pro models.

MacRumors reported that the new touchscreen versions could cost up to $500 more than current models. However, Apple has not announced official prices.

The company is expected to reveal further details during the product launch. Retail availability has reportedly been targeted for November 6, 2026.

What to Expect From ‘Pro and Tell’

Apple’s October 28 gathering is described as a media experience rather than a traditional keynote presentation. The company is expected to share product announcements while invited journalists get hands-on access to the devices.

If the reports prove accurate, the touchscreen MacBook Pro could represent one of Apple’s most significant laptop changes in years.

For now, technology enthusiasts will have to wait for the official announcement to confirm the specifications, prices and availability.
