Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has accused his deputy governor’s driver of misusing an official county vehicle. Kahiga made the allegation while speaking at a public function in Nyeri. He claimed he personally witnessed the alleged misuse during a late-night trip around Nyeri Town.
Kahiga Claims He Followed the Driver
According to Kahiga, he spotted the official vehicle during his movements at night.vHe then decided to follow the vehicle to establish what was happening.
“I saw the vehicle and decided to follow him from behind,” Kahiga said.
He claimed the driver picked up different women before dropping them at various locations.
“He was picking different ladies and dropping them home,” he added.
Use of County Resources
Kahiga further alleged that the vehicle was being used for private errands. He also raised concerns about the use of county fuel during the alleged trips.
The governor said he contacted his deputy after witnessing the incident. According to Kahiga, his deputy said he did not know about the vehicle’s alleged private use.
“When I called my Deputy, he said he was not aware that the vehicle was being used to carry out activities outside the office,” Kahiga said.
