Kyatune Ward MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka faces charges over alleged mobile phone thefts in Nairobi.
Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka denied stealing 42 phones on Luthuli Avenue, while his lawyer sought deferred pleas on two additional charges.
Kitui MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka has appeared in court over three alleged mobile phone thefts in Nairobi. The charges involve consignments worth more than Sh2.8 million at parcel and courier premises.
The Kyatune Ward representative appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo. He denied stealing 42 phones worth Sh609,000 from a parcel office on Luthuli Avenue.
Kitui MCA faces three separate charges
The first charge alleges that Musyoka stole 42 Itel City 200 handsets from Yare Parcel Office on August 5, 2026. The phones belonged to businessman Dahir Adan Mohamud, with each handset valued at Sh14,500.
In the second case, prosecutors allege that he stole 126 Itel A200 phones belonging to Simon Gitonga. They value that consignment at Sh1.801 million.
The alleged theft occurred at North Rift Shuttle on Mfangano Lane on August 18, 2026. Prosecutors also accuse Musyoka of acting with other people who were not before the court.
Meanwhile, the third charge concerns 20 Samsung A07 phones worth Sh420,000 belonging to Ezekiel Kamau Gichuki. Prosecutors allege that Musyoka stole them at Chania Genesis offices on River Road on September 14, 2026.
Prosecutors oppose release on bail
However, Musyoka did not enter pleas on the second and third charges during the appearance. His lawyer asked the court to defer those matters to Thursday.
Before appearing in court, the MCA had spent about 10 days in police custody following his October 22 arrest. During that period, detectives pursued investigations into several complaints lodged at different police stations.
Investigating officer Corporal Edgar Opili told the court that Musyoka allegedly targeted consignments at courier premises. He also alleged that the suspect fraudulently diverted delivery destinations.
The Director of Public Prosecutions opposed Musyoka’s release on bail, arguing that his previous conduct made him a flight risk.
