President William Ruto will seek wider markets for Kenyan exports and investment in manufacturing, agriculture and technology during engagements in Moscow.
President William Ruto will attend the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow to seek new export markets and investment for Kenya. State House said he would depart Tuesday evening for the October 28–30 meetings.
The visit will focus on expanding access for Kenyan tea, coffee, cut flowers, fresh produce and value-added goods. Ruto will also pursue partnerships in manufacturing, agriculture and technology as Kenya diversifies its international economic ties.
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has already arrived in Moscow. He left Kenya on Monday ahead of the summit.
Russia-Africa Summit trade priorities
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed outlined the President’s priorities in a statement issued Tuesday. He said Ruto would seek wider access for African exports in his role as the African Union’s continental free-trade champion.
Alongside the summit, Ruto will attend the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum. Kenya aims to strengthen commercial ties with Russia and other participating countries through these engagements.
The government wants those diplomatic relationships to deliver opportunities for local businesses. Its priorities include attracting investment that can support domestic production, create jobs and increase export earnings.
Investment in industry and agriculture
Ruto will seek capital for agro-processing, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure. He will also pursue cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and technology transfer.
Meanwhile, the planned discussions will explore access to affordable agricultural inputs and ways to strengthen food security. These priorities form part of efforts to improve farm productivity and expand value addition.
At the Africa-Russia Business Roundtable, Ruto will promote Kenya as an investment destination and gateway to African markets. He will seek joint ventures and commercial partnerships that could strengthen Kenyan industries and generate employment.
Meetings with leaders and investors
Beyond the main sessions, Ruto expects to meet other heads of state and government. His planned engagements also include international organisations, financial institutions and major corporations.
Those meetings will focus on mobilising investment, opening markets and advancing Kenya’s economic priorities. The wider summit agenda also covers economic development, political cooperation, international peace and security.
In addition, participants will discuss Africa’s push for stronger representation in global decision-making and reforms to international governance institutions.
