Fredrick Kaptui Plimo and two co-accused must appear for plea-taking on November 5, 2026, while six others have denied charges.

A court has summoned West Pokot County Assembly Speaker Fredrick Kaptui Plimo in a Ksh260 million Sacco fraud case. He must appear on November 5, 2026, to answer charges involving Eco-Pillar Sacco Society Limited.

Plimo, Paul Lokitari Ywapamoi and Francis Atodosia were absent when the matter came before the court. Consequently, the court issued summons and warned that failure to comply could lead to arrest warrants.

Allegations in the Sacco fraud case

The prosecution alleges that nine accused persons conspired to defraud the Sacco of Ksh260,008,100 between 2018 and 2025. The alleged scheme involved manipulating transaction systems, creating fraudulent accounts and issuing fictitious loans.

Prosecutors also allege that the accused transferred Sacco funds into personal bank accounts without authorisation. They say the accused used several methods to interfere with financial systems and divert money for unauthorised purposes.

Besides Plimo, Ywapamoi and Atodosia, the accused include Linus Lokira, Nicholas Toroitich Arusho and Andrew Poriot Lorema. Susan Chesang, Florence Chemotwo and Kodich Ward MCA Leonard Pchakas an Domoita also face charges.

Among the accused are former senior Sacco officials who served as chief executive officers, finance officers and ICT officers.

Six deny charges as court sets bond ruling

Meanwhile, six co-accused appeared before the court and denied various offences linked to the alleged scheme. The charges include conspiracy to defraud, stealing by servant, cheating, unauthorised interference with a computer system and abuse of office.

The court remanded the six pending a ruling on their bond terms on November 2, 2026. That decision will precede the scheduled plea-taking for Plimo and the other two absent accused persons on November 5.

Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Patrick Okango led the prosecution team. Faith Koech, Jairus Onkoba, Stephene Mokaya, Gregory Suter, Victor Mamati and Clinton Kere assisted him.
