Samsung One UI offers tools for device sharing, audio control and security.
Samsung gives Galaxy users tools to share device controls, manage audio, personalise screens and strengthen phone security.
Samsung One UI features give Galaxy users more control over connected devices, audio playback and phone security. Five tools stand out: Multi Control, Separate App Sound, Music Share, Good Lock and Auto Blocker.
These features are available on One UI 8, as well as One UI 8.5 and One UI 9.
Samsung One UI features for connected devices
Multi Control lets users share a mouse and keyboard across Galaxy devices and a Windows PC. Users can also type into text boxes on connected devices and drag files between them.
Unlike comparable tools from Motorola and Oppo/OnePlus, Multi Control can connect a Galaxy phone and tablet without a PC. This allows a tablet’s keyboard and trackpad to control both devices, with the phone serving as an additional workspace.
Meanwhile, Music Share lets friends send audio through a Galaxy phone’s existing Bluetooth speaker connection. The host enables it through the Quick Panel, allowing others to connect through the phone rather than pair directly with the speaker.
By default, only contacts can request access, and the host must approve each connection. Music Share also disconnects inactive devices after 10 minutes, although users can change that limit.
More control over sound and screen settings
Separate App Sound routes audio from selected apps to different outputs. For example, social media videos can play through the phone speaker while music uses a Bluetooth connection.
To configure it, open Settings, select Sounds and vibration, then choose Separate app sound. Next, select an app and its output device.
For additional control, Good Lock’s Sound Assistant module includes a Multi sound setting. This allows selected apps, or all apps, to play audio simultaneously without interrupting one another.
Good Lock also offers downloadable modules for deeper customisation. Home Up changes the home screen, while Camera Assistant adds camera options and MultiStar expands multitasking controls.
Other modules adjust navigation buttons and screen timeout settings for individual apps. Users can download Good Lock through the Galaxy Store and choose the modules they need.
Auto Blocker adds security restrictions
Auto Blocker limits app installation from outside the Play Store and blocks USB commands from reaching the phone. These controls reduce exposure to malicious apps and command-based attacks through connected hardware.
It also includes protection against malware delivered through messaging apps, including attacks that require no user interaction. In addition, users can configure Auto Blocker to reactivate after temporarily disabling it.
For stricter controls, its Maximum Restrictions submenu blocks device administrator apps and USB connections beyond charging. It also prevents automatic connections to insecure Wi-Fi networks and blocks 2G connections.
Some protections overlap with Google’s Advanced Protection tools. However, Auto Blocker brings these additional restrictions together within Samsung’s security settings.
