Apple heads into its Los Angeles launch after unveiling an M6 MacBook Pro, an updated iMac and an OLED iPad mini.

A touchscreen MacBook could headline Apple’s “Pro and Tell” event in Los Angeles, following several product announcements this week. Reports ahead of the launch suggest Apple may introduce the laptop under the name “MacBook Ultra”.

However, neither the name nor the touchscreen model’s specifications have confirmation ahead of the presentation. The event would mark Apple’s third consecutive day of product news.

Touchscreen MacBook could expand the range

Pre-launch reports suggest the new laptop would expand Apple’s MacBook range rather than replace existing models. However, its position within the lineup remains uncertain until Apple announces further details.

Apple chief executive John Ternus also posted a video on X teasing a MacBook before the event. The teaser appears to show a glowing Apple logo on the lid, though it does not confirm the expected touchscreen feature.

For now, the anticipated announcement remains separate from the 14-inch MacBook Pro that Apple unveiled a day earlier. That model uses the M6 processor and starts at $1,999, with 16GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD.

Meanwhile, the current 16-inch MacBook Pro continues to use either an M5 Pro or M5 Max chip. Apple has not yet established the expected touchscreen laptop’s price or availability.

M6 iMac joins this week’s announcements

Alongside the 14-inch laptop, Apple announced an updated iMac with an M6 processor. The chip follows the M4 processor used in the 2024 versions of the all-in-one desktop.

The M6 also reached the Mac mini and Mac Studio several weeks earlier. Apple is promoting its artificial intelligence capabilities, including faster processing of prompts on the device.

The updated iMac starts at $1,499, with preorders scheduled to open on the event day.

iPad mini gains an OLED display

Earlier in the week, Apple introduced an iPad mini featuring an 8.5-inch OLED screen. Buyers can also choose a nano-texture coating for the display.

The tablet uses the A20 chip, which debuted earlier in the year alongside the iPhone 18 Pro. Prices start at $699, while preorders open on the event day ahead of wider availability on November 6.
