The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has rebranded as the Ukombozi Alliance, marking a new phase for the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced the change on Monday, September 21, 2026, during a press briefing in Nairobi attended by several coalition leaders, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and former Attorney General Justin Muturi.
Ukombozi Alliance Leadership
Kalonzo said the coalition had unanimously agreed to adopt the new name. He also said former President Uhuru Kenyatta will remain the coalition chairman, with further steps expected to formalise the transition.
According to Kalonzo, Uhuru is expected to convene a Jubilee Party meeting to make decisions that will subsequently be communicated to the Ukombozi Alliance.
The coalition also plans to make the necessary notifications to the Registrar of Political Parties as the reorganization progresses.
New Political Identity
The Ukombozi Alliance will operate under the slogan “One Term, One Team, One Coalition.” The coalition has also adopted blue and white as its signature colours as it prepares for the 2027 election cycle.
Kalonzo said the rebrand follows consultations among parties within the coalition. The new structure is expected to bring together opposition leaders and parties under one political platform.

The announcement comes as opposition parties continue consultations over their political structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo said the coalition would seek to maintain unity and address outstanding issues affecting opposition cooperation, including the Linda Mwananchi question.
Meanwhile, the rebrand marks the latest change in Kenya’s opposition landscape as political parties prepare for the next election.
The Ukombozi Alliance will now begin the process of formalising its new identity and organisational structure.
