Tanzanian Bongo Flava singer and entrepreneur Juma Jux has reopened his African Boy fashion store in Dar es Salaam, nearly a year after the business was looted during political unrest in Tanzania.
Jux officially reopened the revamped outlet on Sunday, September 20, 2026, marking a fresh chapter for his fashion business.
African Boy Store Gets a New Look
The reopening attracted several Tanzanian entertainers, musicians, models and fashion personalities who gathered to support Jux.
Among those present were Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, Ben Pol, Chino Kidd, Sophia Amelowa, S2kizzy, Masha Lovie and Abigail Chams.
Jux and his wife, Nigerian actress Priscilla Ojo, also took part in the reopening as guests explored the newly revamped store.
Rebuilding After the Looting
The reopening follows the looting of the African Boy outlet during unrest that followed Tanzania’s 2025 general election.
Reports indicate that the store lost its stock during the incident, forcing Jux to rebuild the business. Jux used the reopening to acknowledge people who supported him during the difficult period.
He particularly praised Diamond Platnumz, revealing that the singer allowed African Boy to use his image for promotional purposes without charging him.
Jux said Diamond’s support helped him promote the brand as he worked to rebuild after the setback.
African Boy Enters a New Chapter
The reopening also marks a milestone for the African Boy brand, which is celebrating 10 years in the fashion business, according to reports.
The brand has now restocked its collections as Jux seeks to rebuild its retail presence in Tanzania and beyond. The reopening highlights Jux’s continued expansion beyond music as he grows African Boy into a wider fashion and lifestyle business.
