Andrew Kibe raises concerns about children’s social experiences, while Eko Dydda defends names that reflect parents’ ambitions.

Media personality Andrew Kibe has questioned gospel musician Eko Dydda’s unconventional baby name for his newborn daughter. The musician named her 5 Star Billions Increase Dydda, prompting discussion online.

In a social media reaction, Kibe asked why the musician had chosen the name. He also raised concerns about how children with unusual names might relate to their peers.

His criticism centred on children growing up alongside others with more familiar names. Eko, however, has defended distinctive names as expressions of the greatness parents envision for their children.

In an Instagram post, Eko argued that names carry power and should reflect parents’ aspirations. He said some parents avoid ambitious names because they fear their children may fail to fulfil those expectations.

The musician also contrasted how people name their businesses with how they name their children. In his view, parents readily choose aspirational business names but hesitate to make similar choices for their families.

Meanwhile, his daughter’s name follows a pattern within the family. His other children have unconventional names too, including Keep It Real and I Am Blessed.

Beyond explaining his naming choices, Eko celebrated becoming a father to a girl. He revealed that he had composed a song for his newborn daughter and asked fellow fathers for advice on raising girls.
