American rap superstar Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Apple Music, the NFL and Roc Nation announced the news on Monday, October 26, during ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast. The announcement confirmed weeks of speculation about the rapper’s involvement in the highly anticipated event.
The performance will mark Jay-Z’s first time headlining the Super Bowl halftime show. The 25-time Grammy Award winner will take the stage during a milestone year celebrating three decades since the release of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
Jay-Z Makes Super Bowl History
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has influenced hip-hop for decades through his music, business ventures and cultural impact.
His selection also represents a new chapter in his relationship with the NFL. Since 2019, his entertainment company, Roc Nation, has partnered with the league to produce the Super Bowl halftime show.
During that period, Roc Nation has helped deliver performances featuring major artists, including Rihanna, Usher, Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar. Now, Jay-Z will step into the spotlight himself after years of helping shape the event.

‘Reasonable Doubt’ Anniversary Adds Meaning
The upcoming performance coincides with the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, the album that launched Jay-Z’s recording career in 1996.
The rapper has been celebrating the milestone through special performances and projects honouring his musical legacy.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Jay-Z described the journey from his debut album to the Super Bowl stage as a dream come true.
He also reflected on three decades of music, work and culture. The anniversary gives the performance added significance for fans who have followed his career from its early years.
Special Guests Remain Unconfirmed
Attention is already turning to the artists who could join Jay-Z during the halftime show.
His wife, Beyoncé, is among the names fans may speculate about because of her previous Super Bowl performances. However, organisers have not announced any special guests for the 2027 show.
The halftime performance will take place during Super Bowl LXI on Valentine’s Day, with the game scheduled to air on ESPN and ABC.
For Jay-Z, the appearance will bring together his musical legacy and his long-standing role in shaping the NFL’s entertainment programme. It will also place one of hip-hop’s most influential figures at the centre of one of America’s biggest annual sporting events.
