The five accused sought release on bond, but prosecutors opposed the application, citing a separate murder case involving Mulwa and her children.

Rose Mulwa, her two children and two police constables have pleaded not guilty in the Mbobu murder case. The five appeared before Justice Diana Kavedza at the Kibera High Court over former city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu’s death.

Mulwa, the wife of Professor David Ndetei, faces the charge alongside her children, Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa. Police constables Julius Kipkoech Churuiyot and Kennedy Kipkemei Borboroi also denied the charge.

The prosecution accuses the five of murdering Mbobu on September 9, 2025.

Bond application in Mbobu murder case

Through their defence lawyers, the accused asked the court to release them on bond. However, the prosecution opposed their application, citing another pending murder case involving Mulwa and her two children.

Prosecutors told the court that the three also face a murder charge over the death of Dr Victoria Mutiso. That separate case is before Justice Alexander Muteti at the Milimani High Court.

Court seeks reports before bond decision

Justice Kavedza directed probation officers to prepare pre-bail reports for each of the five accused. The reports will assist the court in deciding their application for release on bond.

The court expects the reports on November 19, 2026, for consideration. Meanwhile, Justice Kavedza directed all five accused to return on November 24, 2026, for further directions.

All five remain presumed innocent unless a court proves their guilt.
