Detectives arrested three suspects at Naiberi Centre in a stolen Toyota Probox that the DCI believes was heading to Uganda.
Detectives investigating Nanyuki car theft cases have arrested three suspects and recovered a stolen Toyota Probox. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the vehicle was allegedly heading to Uganda.
Officers arrested the three at Naiberi Centre while they were travelling in the car, the DCI said. The agency identified them as John Nderitu, alias Charles Muriuki, Peter Machoka Nyangau and Gedion Mutugi.
According to the DCI, the vehicle went missing in Nanyuki on the night of November 3–4, 2026.
Nanyuki car theft investigations continue
The arrests follow a series of vehicle thefts in Nanyuki and surrounding areas. In response, detectives intensified investigations into a suspected motor vehicle theft network. The DCI linked the three suspects to that alleged syndicate.
The suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear at the Nanyuki Law Courts. The DCI said they would face charges of stealing a motor vehicle under Section 278A of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, detectives are following further leads as they seek to identify other people suspected of involvement in the network. They are also pursuing those individuals for arrest as the investigation continues.
