Kenyan singer Nikita Kering’ has won the Best Female East Africa award at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
The victory adds another major milestone to her career and brings her AFRIMMA trophy tally to five.
Nikita Kering’ Wins in Dallas
The 2026 AFRIMMA ceremony took place in Dallas, Texas, where Kering’ emerged as the winner of the Best Female East Africa category.
She beat fellow Kenyan artists Njerae and Bridgit Blue, alongside Tanzania’s Zuchu and Abigail Chams, Uganda’s Winnie Nwagi, Rwanda’s Ariel Wayz, and Ethiopia’s Veronica Adane and Salemia.
AFRIMMA’s official winners list confirms Kering’ as the 2026 Best Female East Africa winner.
Her Fifth AFRIMMA Trophy
The latest win adds to four previous AFRIMMA victories.
Her award history includes:
- 2019: Best Female Artiste in Eastern Africa
- 2019: Revelation of the African Continent
- 2021: Best Female Artiste East Africa
- 2021: Best Artiste in RnB and Soul
- 2026: Best Female East Africa
KBC reports that the 2026 victory makes it her fifth AFRIMMA award.

The Win Comes After The Lick Back
The award follows the release of Kering’s latest EP, The Lick Back.
The project contains five tracks, including “Niwache,” “Give Me My Money,” “Outside” and “Sema Ukweli.” It also features an introduction with Sofiya Nzau.
Kering’ previously described the project as being about “revenge,” encouraging listeners to pay attention to its lyrics and story.
Kenya’s Only AFRIMMA Win
Kering’s victory was also significant for Kenya at the 2026 ceremony. According to KBC, she was Kenya’s only winner at this year’s AFRIMMA awards.
She did not attend the ceremony in person but acknowledged the win on social media with a simple “Thank you” to her fans.
Nikita Kering’ continues to strengthen her position on the continental music scene. Her latest AFRIMMA victory gives her five trophies and adds another major achievement to a career that began at a young age.
