Rescue teams pulled a man from the rubble following the Eastleigh building collapse in Nairobi after hours of searching. He is now receiving medical care at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
In an October 25 update, the Kenya Red Cross said its personnel worked alongside other emergency responders to reach the survivor. Meanwhile, teams continued searching the debris for anyone else who might remain trapped.
Eastleigh building collapse search continues
The operation brings together Kenya Red Cross search teams and emergency personnel from several agencies. Responders have been clearing debris and checking affected sections of the collapsed structure for possible survivors.
Following the man’s rescue, the organisation confirmed that its teams remained at the site to support the operation. Their work also aims to establish whether other people remain beneath the rubble.
Emergency responders are trying to account for people who may have been inside when the building collapsed. However, authorities have not yet provided a comprehensive tally of those rescued, injured or potentially trapped.
Survivor receives care at KNH
After bringing the man out of the debris, responders took him to KNH for treatment. The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that he was receiving care but did not disclose his condition or injuries.
Meanwhile, the wider rescue effort remains focused on locating survivors and ensuring they receive immediate medical attention. The organisation said it would continue supporting the search alongside its multi-agency partners.
