Carrick faces growing pressure after eight games without victory, with United just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.

Michael Carrick is expected to remain in charge of Manchester United for Saturday’s Premier League visit to Chelsea. His future has come under scrutiny after eight games without a win.

United lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth on Sunday, leaving them one point above the relegation zone. However, Carrick is still set to take the team to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The former United and England midfielder arrived at the club’s Carrington training ground on Tuesday. He was there to oversee a routine squad session ahead of the Chelsea match.

Michael Carrick faces pressure after Bournemouth defeat

Sunday’s result extended United’s winless run and intensified speculation over the manager’s position. The 45-year-old now faces the task of reversing a poor start to the season.

Despite that pressure, the expectation remains that Carrick will continue in the dugout for the next league fixture. The trip to Chelsea offers United another opportunity to end their eight-match wait for victory.

Early-season struggles follow third-place finish

The current difficulties contrast with Carrick’s successful spell as caretaker manager following United’s struggles under Ruben Amorim. During that period, he oversaw a recovery that took the club to third in the Premier League.

That finish also secured United’s return to the Champions League. The club then gave Carrick a two-year contract in May.

Now, however, United head to Stamford Bridge with only a narrow cushion above the relegation places.
