The JKIA Law Courts ordered Mohamud Mohammed Roble to return to Somalia after paying Sh370,000 in fines.
The JKIA Law Courts have ordered a Somali national’s repatriation following a passport fraud conviction. Mohamud Mohammed Roble must pay fines totalling Sh370,000 before his return to Somalia.
Roble pleaded guilty to three counts involving unlawful presence in Kenya and fraudulent identity and passport documents. The court also ordered him to surrender the Kenyan passport to the Director General of Immigration Services for destruction.
Passport fraud conviction brings three fines
The court fined Roble Sh150,000 for unlawful presence in Kenya and another Sh150,000 for making a false declaration to obtain a Kenyan passport. It imposed a further Sh70,000 fine for presenting an identity card containing false entries with intent to deceive.
However, the sentences provide for imprisonment if he fails to pay the fines. The repatriation order requires his return to Somalia upon payment.
Roble’s arrest followed a handover of the case by immigration officials at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Detectives from the Immigration and Citizen Services Investigations Unit took over the investigation.
Investigators established that Roble had first obtained Kenyan registration documents. He then used false declarations to secure a Kenyan passport.
